How to use Google tag manager for Google Analytics
Hi, Friends in last blog I had talked about how to setup Google tag manager on your website and this blog is continuation to that blog. If you have not read my previous blog of “How to put tag manager on your website” then I suggest you to read that blog so, that you can understand this blog completely.
Steps to put Google Analytics code using Google Tag Manager
Step1: Login into Google tag manager account after that click on tags then click on new tags. Then it will ask for name so, put a name for the tag if it is for Google Analytics 4 tag then write the name of tag as GA4 or whatever you wish to write. Now in Tag Configuration option click on the pencil icon and select the Google Analytics GA4 configuration. After that it will ask for Measurement ID.
Step2: Now you have to go to new tab and open Google analytics with the same Google account from which you have created the Google Tag Manager Account.
· Create a Google Analytics account
1.
Open https://analytics.google.com
2.
Fill the account details like Account name you can use
website name as your Google analytics account name and select the term and
conditions after that click on next.
3.
Now in property name use your website name and select
the time zone according to your time zone or you can select the time zone in
which you wish to track data in Google analytics and select the currency
accordingly then click on next.
4.
Now fill the industry category, business size and
click on next.
5. After that it will ask to choose your business objectives so, here you can choose it according to your business objectives. In my case I have used get baseline reports. You need to keep in mind that multiple types of reports cannot be combined with other options. Agree to terms and conditions of Google Analytics.
6. Now in last step it will ask for the choose a platform for collection of data so, here you can choose it accordingly. I have selected it for web. The moment you click on web now it will ask for the URL of your website and stream name in stream name as well use your website name (not url) and click on create stream.
· Step3: Now go to step 1 where it was asking for Measurement ID so, now you have got the Measurement ID from Google Analytics Code so, you have to put that Measurement ID in Google Tag Manager Account where it was asking for Measurement ID and click on save now it will ask for Add trigger so click on add trigger and select it on all pages and click on save after that publish the tag. Once tag is put if tag is properly setup then in Google Tag manager it will look like this.
